and they finished ..

These girls must have had the luckiest day as this happened ten metres from the finish and they were able to slide across the line and get their finish. Only 20 boats in the Ladies fleet managed to finish both races .. neither race winners did two races. The boys had less damage . In all the measurer had to sign in seven new masts of which four were ours. Joanna  and Ben G and Henriette and Eleni were the first to leave the boat park having sustained no damage . We had 12 capsizes amongst our sailors .

It  was all to do with wind against tide..

Jonny, Neil, Pete and Andy worked tirelessly to help sailors get ready for today's race and left the boat park at 20.30hrs. We only have one race today because  the YCA people who live further out  would like finish early  for New Years Eve.

The city will be busy today as it prepares for the start for the Dakar Car Rally and as our hotel is two streets away there is no avoiding it for us . Even the one of the hotels was replacing its flags yesterday for its telly appearance.

Our plans to party at the  club  tonight are under a review. After the clouds of mossies at the opening ceremony  there is a reluctance from sailors to repeat the experience and last night Carla was approached by our Hotel manager( running down the hall he was)  and asked what our plans are for NYE . With the parties happening tonight and the Hotel with tickets to sell and us a group of 35 Carla thinks a good deal could be done.
